Lives up to its title

My husband and I are driving around the world. We started from Los Angeles and are now heading south. Our first leg of the journey is the Pan-American Highway to the tip of South America. Considering that just about every country along the way speaks Spanish, I decided that it would be a good idea if I learned the language. I started this book on my Kindle the day we crossed the border into Mexico, and I finished it a couple months ago in El Salvador. It took me a few months to complete it, but I did all the exercises, took days off from studying, reviewed past chapters along the way, etc.. I can honestly say that all my hard work paid off. I speak Spanish now, and pretty damn well to boot! I also took two weeks of live classes with a teacher in Mexico, and honestly, comparing the two, my Kindle book did a better job of lesson planning and explaining the grammar than my Spanish teacher did. The layout of the book is awesome, and everything you learn is relevant. If you dedicate yourself to studying every day, you can get up to a strong intermediate level of speaking with this book. I only wish the author made an advanced version too!

Great Text for Online Class

I bought this as a text required for an online class with EcuSpanish. Both my wife and I have been sharing it for our individual sessions 2 or 3 times a week each. The book is easy to read and has a good logical progression into conversational Spanish. However, you really do need someone like our instructor, Virginia, an Equadorian personal teacher, who interacts with us online while we read or engages us in conversation to reinforce the book topics. The questions in the book become the homework for the next session. The instructor corrects the pronunciation, something you really need and that the book alone cannot do.
The book price is good and is a small fraction of what good personal tutoring costs. It is an excellent value.
Using this book with a tutor has improved my Spanish skill significantly. A word to the wise, the book alone is not adequate.

Exactly what I have been searching for; a Spanish book that teaches reading, writing and speaking the language. I dropped out of Spanish in college. Not gifted in learning other languages. This book for beginners like me; from alphabet sounds to basic parts of sentence and more.

Written by two eminent names in oral and maxillofacial surgery, this popular book is now in its 6th edition and is designed to better prepare junior trainees who are considering working in a hospital setting for the first time. The book provides comprehensive guidance on various clinical problems that you may encounter while "on the ward". It is divided into four sections. The first provides an introduction to hospital services and essential information; the second looks at routine procedures that a new appointee may need to know; the third looks at basic knowledge of medicine in relation to dentistry; and the final section looks at a broader range of the clinical work that oral and maxillofacial surgeons do. For this edition eight chapters have been updated to reflect recent changes in clinical practice and a further four new chapters have been added. In particular, the addition of the chapters on radiotherapy and understanding potentially malignant disorders further complements this book as it covers the essential elements trainees would encounter in their day-to-day work. The book is well laid out with each chapter having a number of coloured images to break up the text and for the reader to refer to. Where appropriate, images are often annotated to fully appreciate what is being explained, which I found particularly useful. It also provides fundamental guidance in various circumstances you would encounter while being on call. I also found that most of the book is written as a "survival guide", covering common presentations in the emergency, ward, and clinical settings, which is incredibly practical. One of the only criticisms I found was that it does not have an index, which is rather unfortunate as I find this is indispensable for the reader to locate certain material in the book. I can see why previous editions have been so popular, as it provides a gentle introduction to oral and maxillofacial surgery and an essential guide for all those who are about to embark work in a hospital setting - a must have! Andrew Sadler was formerly a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Lincoln and latterly a Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery at Barts and the London.

What is a book...

Great art, while it not not contain the complete works of any one game it offers a nice variety of all 3 games. I wish it contained any of the in-game bestiary or character profiles that Jorge Benedito drew, that in itself could fill its own book. Not even Kojima herself drew every monster and character in game. Definitely for anyone whos a fan of the series, old or new.

Strong and sturdy with gorgeous high quality pages depicting concept art from Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate, and Lords of Shadow 2. Also shows scenes from Mirror of Fate in early storyboards, which is always very interesting to see.

Wonderful collectible piece for any diehard Castlevania fan and an amazing asset for any prospective concept artists out there.

Great artbook

I purchased this for a friend but had to page through it first to verify it's quality.

The content covers the first Lord of Shadow game very extensively. The backstory summations of important characters alongside many illustrations give the book a very cohesive and useful tone for fans. It also covers the new sequel to Lords of Shadow but its more of a late addition compared to the breadth of content about the first game.

If you're a fan that enjoyed the art of the series it is easy to recommend purchasing it.

Book is a Classic in the Field

I've looked at many books on different trades and all the books I could find on framing. This is easily the best. Mark Currie gives you the details you need, and he gives them to you in a clear and understandable way. His book covers basic to advanced topics. It's well-organized, has lots of good illustrations, and doesn't waste your time on information you don't need. Mark Currie clearly knows what he's talking about and knows how to explain things well. This is the best book to have on framing.

Rough Framing Carpentry

If you are a young framer and you feel like you are being held back by the older more knowledgeable carpenters on your crew, buy this book! It covers all phases of the framing process including roof cutting and stair building. The pros and cons of working for your self as a "piece worker" or working "hourly" for the framing contractor is also discussed. Lots of infomation on how to cut production time using simple yet effective methods is seemingly on every page. The book is organized so that each chapter discusses one part or phase of the framing process and what you can expect to get paid. This book transformed me from a grunt on a framing crew making bread and water wages to a piece worker making journyman's wage in one season.

I have to admit a bit of a bias when it comes to the work of Ron Mueck..I have been a Special effects Make-up artist for over the past few decades and an artist myself...so his work is not only inspirational but also amazing reference for my own work.
this book captures his work with some of the best photography yet, the studio shots are what I have wanted to see since I first discovered his work on the cover of Modern Painter magazine ages ago....the text...well to be honest I have read enough artspeak gobbly gook to last a life time but it is informative although often pretentious to the ninth degree.
I have most of the other publications about his work and this one if by far the most lovingly photographed .
